Welcome to the Biomembrane Lab at the University of Michigan. The Biomembrane Lab is the research
group of Professor Michael Mayer in the departments of Biomedical Engineering and Chemical Engineering.
|
|
Current areas of research include the study of ion channels and membrane
transporters, micro/nano fabrication, biomimetics, and biosensors.

Several new Biomembrane lab papers
in 2008 journals - We have quite a few papers that have recently been published in
top journals. Among these papers are an automated and
high-throughput method to profile ion channel activity in blood cells (Anal Chem), an exhaustive study of
electrical noise in nanopore-based experiments (ACS Nano),
a new technique for forming nano-structures in glass (Optics Lett), and a study of molecular rotors for characterizing supported lipid
bilayers (BBA-Biomembranes).

Openings for Patch-Clamping Post-doctoral Researchers in the Biomembrane Lab
- The Biomembrane lab is currently seeking a highly qualified biophysicist or biochemist with
experience in patch clamp electrophysiology
for a post-doctoral position in the area of membrane transport proteins.
